I’ve been a member of a gym for most of my life. It started in middle school when I used to roller blade to the local recreation center to use the weight room and has continued pretty much until now. I like the idea of “going to the gym”. I like being there and using the machines and equipment. I like seeing how other people workout…and let’s be honest, what they’re wearing. I LOVE the group fitness classes and get super excited when I find great teachers! I love watching the personal trainers and even bought a VERY small personal training package to kickstart my workouts. While I LOVED the personal training and my trainer was fantastic, in the end that service was way too pricy. The trouble was I needed someone to tell me what to do because when left to my own devices I often found myself repeating the same workouts over and over again, getting bored and not challenging myself.
For some reason when I decided to get focused on my health back in March ’13 I bought JM Body Revolution and started working out at home. This was a VERY new thing for me, like I said I’ve always been the girl who goes to the gym. Was this gonna work? Can two sets of hand weights, my body and a DVD player really yield any results? Turns out it can! I know, I’m just as shocked as you! Since those first three months using Body Revolution I have moved on to other workout DVDs including; TurboFire, ChaLean Extreme, P90X, other Jillian Michaels DVDs and lots more. Don’t get me wrong, I still pop into the gym from time to time, a girl with no cable or satellite service has to get her Fashion Police fix, but on the whole most of my workouts happen in my living room. So if you are feeling the New Year’s resolution pressure, just want to make a change or are annoyed at how crowded your gym has become post-midnight give a workout DVD a try. AND if you don’t wanna shell out the money for a freshly shrink-wrapped DVD try checking out YouTube (here’s one to try!), there’s a lot of free fitness videos out there for the taking!
Do any of you workout at home? Or do you prefer to go to the gym?
