It’s been a while since I did a progress report but I finished Ripped in 30(!!!) on Friday so I thought it would be a good time to check in. Seven pounds down since my June check-in! Not too shabby. I can attribute a lot of that to my participation in a DietBet (I’m 5 days away from the finish line!). Looks like the greatest inch loss was in my upper hip, which I can believe because my pants are fitting way different these days! Yipee!!! My calves seem to be getting bigger which is a bummer since it’s already completely impossible to find cute tall boots that fit around my fat calves. Oh well, it’s all in the name of good health and fitness!
So a quick review of Ripped in 30. It’s a one month program that’s very similar to Body Revolution, so if you are intrigued by Body Revolution but don’t want to pay the money for the program I would highly recommend dropping $10 at Target or Amazon for Ripped in 30. The principles are the same, some of the exercises are the same and you will get some good results. The disc contains 4 workouts (one for each week) that get progressively harder. She uses a 3-2-1 approach to the circuits where you do 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs. I like this as a format because it makes any of the exercises doable, even if they are nearly impossible you bang out a couple reps and it’s on to the next move. My only critique is that doing the same workout all week can get a little boring, but I have been spoiled by Body Revolution so what can I say.
As usual she offers good modifications to make moves easier or have less impact. There were a couple moves that honestly I could not do, the worst offender was the “rock n’ roll squat” where you go from standing to basically a super deep squat, sit on the floor, roll on your back and then pop back up to standing. Let’s just say I’m working up to this one, in the meantime I spend that time doing regular squats or squat jumps to keep my heart rate up. Don’t be afraid to do a completely different exercise if there’s something you can’t do! Just keep moving!
