So I did something a little crazy yesterday (for me at least). I was cruising around Old Navy and decided to try on a bikini….as in a real 2 piece swimsuit…not a tankini. Mostly this was an experiment; first to see how a size XL fit and second to see just how totally awful it looked. To my surprise it FIT! And while I wouldn’t go out in public in it I wasn’t completely horrified! I know this sounds like total body bashing, but facts are facts people….all of us CAN wear a 2-piece but many of us SHOULD NOT wear one….and I am one of said people.
So I stood there in the dressing room considering what I should do with this new information about myself and what my body looks like in such a small amount of clothing. After much consideration (and a few selfies for potential progress pics), I decided to buy the thing! If for no other reason than to hang on my bathroom door as a reminder of what I’m trying to accomplish. I might not wear it this summer or next summer even, but for $20 I thought it would serve as some very visual motivation. Plus I figure at the very least I can wear it under my shorts and t-shirt when I go kayaking…probably cooler than wearing my regular 1-piece swimsuit under my shorts and T, right?
What kinds of things are you guys doing to stay motivated? Any clothing purchases hanging in your line of sight?
