Jillian took the stage decked out in a Boston Strong t-shirt, skinny jeans and flip flops! It was a little surreal to see her live after spending so many 6ams with her in my living room as I sweat it out and clock watch until my 30 minutes are done! Don’t get me wrong her workouts are AWESOME, but they kick my butt day in and day out. It was a pretty awesome night I have to say, if she is coming to your area I highly recommend going. Here’s a link to the tour dates! You still have time!
So a short rundown of the night, she spent the first half of the show going over food and fitness. She started out by giving us the “secret to weight loss”…..eat less….move more. She had a really good sense of humor about it, getting quiet, leaning in and even telling us how she couldn’t believe she has spent the last 10 years repeating herself and is still making a living doing it. She talked about how we fill our bodies with pestisides, bleach, hormones and the like by choosing the wrong foods or not reading labels (which she admitted are pretty hard to understand and can be VERY sneaky). I took away several things from the first half, but one of my favorites was her comparison of calories to dollars. Would you spend $1800 on a Bloomin’ Onion? I think not! You would want value for money. Kind of puts things in perspective.
The second half was more focused on how to achieve success and happiness, how to put an end to repetition compulsions, and most importantly to never settle. She talked about taking risks (calculated ones), risks that will get you what you want. One thing she said that really resonated with me about the fear of taking risks was that the things you won’t get if you fail are things you already don’t have….so why not take the risk?! Never thought of it like that. I’m not sure what risks I want to take yet, but I do feel a little less worried about bad outcomes should things go that way. So there you have it! If you can make it to one of her live shows I highly recommend it. Woke up with a little spring in my step this morning thanks to my 2 hour pep talk last night! Now you go get one too!
